  • Twitter unveils lists for all users

After a short period of beta testing, Twitter has unveiled its much talked about “lists” feature for all users this week.

    What are Twitter lists?

Twitter lists are simply user created lists of other users. They work in much the same way as friend lists work on Facebook. I can create a list for fellow Indians and Bruins fans, a list of official team accounts, a list of college friends, etc. Users can opt to publish these lists right on Twitter, thereby allowing other users to follow everyone on the list with one click.

Sports fans are already creating hundreds of lists of different Twitter users everyday. We at Sportsin140.com made our first list on Friday of all 30 NHL teams on Twitter. Look for more lists coming soon.

So, what do lists mean for sports fans on Twitter? Well lists will make it easier to find fellow fans from your favorite teams. They will also make it easier to find athletes on Twitter as fans list players from their favorite teams. One thing that lists won’t do is they won’t make it easier to know which athlete Twitter accounts are legitimate. Count on Sportsin140.com to remain your source for confirming athlete Twitter accounts. For now enjoy Twitter’s new lists feature and please post any interesting lists you come across in the comments section here.
